Gatesmill is a multi-level pressure-treated wood deck built around a single feature: a hot tub recessed into the lower level so it sits flush with the deck surface, not perched on top of it. Black aluminum balusters with a wood top rail frame the upper deck, lattice skirting closes off the underside cleanly, and a set of wide pressure-treated wood steps drops onto a brick landing that ties the deck back into the home's rear entry. The result is an outdoor space that reads as a single composed environment rather than a deck bolted onto a house.
